This is the part of the animation process I seem to be worst at. For the past few weeks I have been struggling to get my ideas down on paper in any form that I like. I was disappointed with my original animatic (which is less of an animatic and more a set of still images that look like a six year old drew them) I tried to upload it onto here but luckily it doesn't seem to want to work.

After reviewing my work up till that point it seemed more appropriate to my theme and my natural style of drawing to drop the pen/pencil and pick up a bunch of charcoal instead... this actually seemed to be helping for a while and these are a few results....

my deep sea divers.

selection of two old school deep sea diver's helmets i did as etchings last year inspired by a book project i did. I made a few more but after aqua tinting them these two turned out the best.

FOXY

These are some little collages I did where I tried to find animals who are used to represent human qualities. These ones are crabby, eagle-eyed and foxy. I don't think the first two work so well... the foxy man definitely turned out the best.

self portraits

This is a selection of a few self portraits I did a while back. These were my favourites just because they were so simple. I tried a few detailed ones in pastels and some in acrylic but they seemed a bit over complicated.

Bonjour

My name is Jess and I am a third year at UWE and doing my final year at the Bristol School of Animation. I did my first year and a half here in Illustration and although I loved it and thought it was a great course I had the opportunity to do a module in animation in my second year. I ended up staying on with animation and doing a dual degree. It's taken about 2 weeks for this thing to start working on my dying computer and now I'm set up and ready to go. Hopefully this blog will serve as an online journal for my final year at uni and a good place to post my work and ideas and hopefully get some feedback on what I'm doing right and wrong.
